19% YES 81% NO

Opened · Settles

Resolution criteria on PolyGram: This market will resolve to "Yes" if the United States government officially recognizes Russian sovereignty over any portion of Ukrainian territory by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Donald Trump's March 25, 2019, recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights is an example of a qualifying action. Statement of intents, or announcements of planned recognition will not qualify. Ukrainian territory is defined as any portion of Ukraine as recognized by the UN at the start of the present conflict on February 24, 2022, including Crimea. The resolution source will be official U.S.

PolyGram is an on-chain prediction market where you trade YES or NO outcome shares with real USDC on Polygon. For this market, buy YES if you believe the event will happen, or NO if you think it won't. Your maximum loss is your stake — winning shares pay $1.00 each at resolution. Unlike sportsbooks, there is no house edge: prices are set by supply and demand from other traders and reflect the crowd's real-time probability.

US recognizes Russian sovereignty over Ukraine before 2027? 19% YES81% NO

Market context

The question hinges on whether the United States will formally recognise Russian sovereignty over any Ukrainian territory before the end of 2026. This would require an official diplomatic act—such as a formal statement, treaty amendment, or executive declaration—rather than mere rhetoric or conditional statements. The threshold is explicit recognition akin to Trump's 2019 Golan Heights precedent, where the US departed from longstanding non-recognition policy through direct governmental acknowledgement.

Historical precedent suggests such reversals are rare but not unprecedented in US foreign policy. The Golan Heights recognition occurred despite decades of international consensus against it; however, that case involved a US ally (Israel) and territory outside the immediate sphere of great-power competition. Ukraine presents a different calculus: the US has consistently supported Ukrainian sovereignty through military aid, NATO coordination, and diplomatic isolation of Russia since the 2022 invasion. Any recognition would represent a fundamental shift in the Biden or Trump administration's stated position, requiring either a dramatic military outcome favouring Russia or a negotiated settlement that the US explicitly endorses.

The 19% implied probability reflects the low baseline likelihood given current US policy alignment with NATO and Ukraine, offset by uncertainty around Trump's return to office and his stated interest in rapid Ukraine settlement negotiations. Traders should monitor peace talks, any Trump-Putin communications, and statements from the State Department regarding territorial concessions. The Polymarket order book currently prices recognition as a tail-risk event, with the probability sensitive to geopolitical developments and US electoral outcomes over the next two years.
