Resolution criteria on PolyGram: This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect.
PolyGram is an on-chain prediction market where you trade YES or NO outcome shares with real USDC on Polygon. For this market, buy YES if you believe the event will happen, or NO if you think it won't. Your maximum loss is your stake — winning shares pay $1.00 each at resolution. The Philadelphia Phillies will appoint a new permanent manager at some point before the January 2027 deadline. The current order book on Polymarket reflects a 47% implied probability that this appointment occurs, pricing in uncertainty around timing, candidate availability, and the club's competitive window. The Phillies finished 2024 with a 71–91 record under Rob Thomson, whose contract expires after the 2025 season, making a managerial change plausible within the settlement window.
Historical precedent suggests MLB managerial transitions typically occur in the October-to-November window following season conclusions, though mid-season changes remain possible if performance deteriorates sharply. The Phillies' recent history—including the 2022 World Series run and subsequent playoff appearances—positions them as an attractive destination for established candidates. Comparable organisations with similar market sizes and payroll commitments have averaged 1–2 years between managerial changes, suggesting the baseline probability should account for both the natural hiring cycle and the possibility of Thomson's retention or extension.
Traders should monitor the Phillies' 2025 regular season performance closely, particularly results through July, as poor performance would accelerate managerial change discussions. Front office statements regarding Thomson's future and any public interest from candidates or rival clubs would signal shifting probabilities. The MLB off-season hiring cycle—typically concentrated between late October and early December—represents the highest-probability window for resolution. Any formal announcement of a permanent appointment immediately settles the market, regardless of the manager's start date.
