Resolution criteria on PolyGram: This market will resolve to “Yes” if, according to the ISW map, Russia militarily captures the entirety of Donetsk Oblast by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Donetsk Oblast will be considered captured when the entirety of the below-specified municipalities is simultaneously shaded red on the ISW map (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375) by the resolution date. If those areas are not simultaneously shaded red by the resolution date, this market will resolve to “No”.
PolyGram is an on-chain prediction market where you trade YES or NO outcome shares with real USDC on Polygon. For this market, buy YES if you believe the event will happen, or NO if you think it won't. Your maximum loss is your stake — winning shares pay $1.00 each at resolution. Unlike sportsbooks, there is no house edge: prices are set by supply and demand from other traders and reflect the crowd's real-time probability.

Russia's advance in Donetsk Oblast has slowed considerably since its rapid territorial gains in 2022. As of late 2024, Russian forces control roughly 70% of the oblast, with Ukrainian defences holding the western portions including cities like Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. The remaining Ukrainian-held territory represents some of the most heavily fortified and contested ground on the eastern front. Capturing the entirety of Donetsk would require sustained offensive operations across multiple fronts whilst maintaining supply lines through increasingly damaged infrastructure.
Historical precedent suggests full oblast conquest within an 18-month window faces substantial friction. The battle for Mariupol lasted three months; Sievierodonetsk took two months; Bakhmut consumed nearly a year of intensive fighting. Each successive Ukrainian-held city has been progressively more fortified. The 0% implied probability on Polymarket's order book reflects the market's assessment that the remaining distance—both geographic and in terms of defensive preparation—makes complete conquest by June 2026 extraordinarily unlikely given current operational tempo.
Traders should monitor Russian force composition changes, particularly whether Moscow commits additional reserves to Donetsk rather than other theatres like Kursk. Western military aid flows to Ukraine, especially air defence systems and long-range strikes, directly affect Russian operational capacity. ISW map updates, released regularly, provide the settlement mechanism; traders should track whether Russian advances accelerate beyond the current 1-3 kilometres monthly rate or stall entirely. Announcements regarding ceasefire negotiations could rapidly shift market expectations, though current diplomatic signals remain minimal.
The Battle of Kherson took place on 1 March 2022 on the southern front of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Russian forces captured the city on 1 March 2022 after brief combat with local territorial defense fighters, and then began a military occupation of the city.

During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone was captured on 24 February, the first day of the invasion, by the Russian Armed Forces, who entered Ukrainian territory from neighbouring Belarus and seized the entire area of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant by the end of that day. On 7 March, it was reported that around 300 people
