Obsession, a 2025 film, will receive a critical assessment on Rotten Tomatoes' All Critics Tomatometer. The market resolves based on whether the aggregated critical score meets or exceeds a specified threshold by 10:00 AM ET on 18 May 2026. The current order book on Polymarket reflects a 99% implied probability, suggesting traders expect the film will clear the threshold with near-certainty.
Historical precedent offers limited direct comparison for this particular title, though Rotten Tomatoes scores for psychological thrillers and character-driven dramas typically range widely depending on critical consensus. Films in similar genres have seen scores fluctuate between 40% and 85%, with critical reception often diverging sharply from audience response. The 99% probability suggests either a very low threshold has been set, or traders possess confidence in advance critical reception signals. Comparable recent releases in this category have generally accumulated sufficient reviews within six months of release to stabilise their scores.
Key catalysts include the film's theatrical release schedule, review embargo dates, and the pace at which critics publish assessments. Trade publications and major outlets typically weigh heavily in Rotten Tomatoes' weighting algorithm. Any significant critical consensus—whether positive or negative—will crystallise the score well before the May 2026 resolution window. Traders should monitor early festival screenings, press reviews, and aggregator tracking sites for directional signals on critical reception as the release approaches.
Resolution is handled by the UMA optimistic oracle on Polygon. A proposer submits the outcome, a two-hour dispute window opens, and if no one stakes a counter-claim the payout is final. Contested outcomes escalate to UMA token-holder voting. Payouts clear in USDC to the winning side.
The mechanics for trading ""Obsession" Rotten Tomatoes score?" are the same as any other PolyGram event contract. Each YES share resolves to $1 if the event happens, or $0 if it doesn't. The current price between 0¢ and 100¢ is the market's probability estimate, set live by the order book.
$5K in lifetime turnover and $7K of resting liquidity puts this market in the below the median by volume for rotten tomatoes contracts on PolyGram. Order-book depth is thin — large orders may need to be split across the book or executed as limit orders.
Last 24 hours alone saw $153 in turnover, consistent with the market's lifetime daily-average pace.
The market has been open for under a month — fresh enough that information asymmetry remains a real factor.
Higher-volume markets tend to have tighter spreads and faster price discovery — meaning the displayed YES/NO percentages are more likely to reflect the true crowd-implied probability rather than a single trader's directional view.
